Recycling at IWA
|
The Sisters of the Incarnate Word (SIW) along with Incarnate Word Academy (IWA) began a recycling program in December 2006. The Paper Retriever® program is a joint venture between the SIW/IWA and Abitibi Consolidated, a world leader in newspaper and magazine recycling www.PaperRetriever.com
Students have paper recycling bins in all of the classrooms in which they utilize for all paper disposal. They are encouraged to bring their paper, magazines, and all other recyclable items (noted below) in regularly to deposit in the bin in the parking lot.
Here's how everyone can get in on the act. Look for a green and yellow Paper Retriever® Bin, conveniently located at the right of the parking lot, and toss in piles of unwanted paper. Almost any type of paper can be deposited:

Recycling is an ongoing part of the Sister’s and School’s commitment to conservation. Abitibi pays the two organizations (SIW and IWA split the proceeds) for every ton of paper collected. Since our program started, we have recycled 18.14 Tons of paper and earned a total of $123.33 through September 2007.
